work for next year - but not NYRs

here are three things I want to concentrate on next year.
Firstly I want to finish my phd. I have 20K words left to write and they are mainly the theoretical links between the ethnographic section.

I want to have another exhibition later in the year. The work I am developing is an extension of the  fetishes I started last year but  want to develop the narrative aspects of the work.
and I'm looking forward to presenting a garment at the wearable art exhibition lee is starting

I'm going to add a gallery for my collages and books

I'm beginning to feel I can do these things!!

Artist statement - works for writing as well as collage!

I woke up!

I had slept a life time and in those days, those weeks of sleeping my mind constructed its own dreamtime. A burst cerebral aneurysm ripped through my life and transformed everything. I lost my connection to the now and moved into the deep. I lost myself in those days of sleeping and remembered nothing of before or now. In that place of forgetting, of unknowing I connected with our shared history, our shared consciousness and began to dream.

In awakening I began to translate my dreams into images. Mythologies pulled from the shared mind through pain and death into a sense of the personal.
I use the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life to recreate these metaphors of image. Layers of memory and understanding through the use of materials - the metaphors I create exist on several levels and ache to be transmogrified into form

The common need to find the human form intrigues me. Irrespective of the disparate nature of the materials available we have a desire to construct the human form. In my work I wish to push this thought: – how abstract must the form become before we no longer find the human within it?

Unsure if these figures are icons, fetishes or goddesses I listened for their voices and allowed their presence to construct themselves.

old blogs

Ive found my old blog and think to transpose it here. Reading through my old words and finding old images I would like to contain them within this space so I'll start moving them across this week.
It surprises me how much of what I've written still has relevance to what I think and do now. My collages have moved from wall mounted pieces to journal covers and I like that my work has become a personal journey.
I've been working on my jester's story for several years now and have produced 2.5 haiku and three collages - still a work in progress!

wolf woman

This collage made itself for no reason than I held her in my mind!
